DESCRIPTION: |
This is
a hypothetical scenario set in July, 1757. The Prussians under Frederick have
been retreating slowly north after their defeat at Kolin. On 16 July a
detached Prussian force under the brave but inexperienced Prince August
William stumbles into an Austrian blocking force under Nadasty at Lobau.
Nadasty is an aggressive commander and his troops have out-marched the
Prussians (as well as his own main army). August William is trapped. The
Prussians have better troops, but must drive across a strongly-held Austrian
ridgeline to reach their main army at Bautzen to the north. Failure means
disgrace and dismissal from the army; Frederick does not have a sympathetic
nature. The rules are 1:50 scale, with very simple game mechanics, suitable
for those new to this fascinating period or to wargaming in general. |
